Destination ImagiNation is an exhilarating after-school activity in which students work in teams to solve mind-bending Challengesand present their solutions at Tournaments. Teams are tested to think on their feet, work together, and devise original solutions that satisfy the requirements of the Challenges. Participants gain more than just basic knowledge and skills - they learn to unleash their imaginations and take unique approaches to problem solving.
Oregon Destination ImagiNation supports these activities by providing training and support to Team Managers and students, operating two quality regional Tournaments and a regional Showcase in three geographic locations (Metro, Southern, and Eastern), sponsoring additional activities for students, and presenting an Affiliate Tournament that qualifies top teams to move on to global competition.
Destination ImagiNation, Inc. is an extraordinary non-profit organization that provides two educational programs for students to learn and experience creativity, teamwork and problem solving. Every year, we reach 100,000 students across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries. Destination ImagiNation, our core program, is an exhilarating after-school activity in which students work in teams to solve mind-bending Challenges and present their solutions at Tournaments. In our Destination ImagiNation 4-Life program, we design and implement cause-based programming for client organizations to reach target audiences in a powerful way. Destination ImagiNation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with more than 1.3 million alumni and a global network of 35,000 volunteers.
Destination ImagiNation, Inc. began in the summer of 1999, when nearly 200 international volunteers united to create a global creative problem solving program that would provide students with an exciting, joyful and supportive experience. Less than a year later, more than 100,000 students had participated in the program. The organization was originally incorporated as a 401c nonprofit organization in January of 2001, and its corporate headquarters were established in Glassboro, New Jersey.
The underpinnings of Destination ImagiNation’s work in creativity, teamwork and problem solving were developed in collaboration with the world-renowned Center for Creative Learning. Today, Destination ImagiNation has an extensive global network and a devoted staff to carry out its programs. It stands among the world’s most progressive institutions in creativity and innovation, and it seeks to revitalize the educational experience of students around the world.
