Welcome to the combined
Metro East/West Region for 2007-2008!

Welcome to this web page! As the Region Director for the entire Metro Region, I am here to help you with Destination Imagination. This is a change from last year as we currently do not have a Region Director for the West Region. In the interim, I will try to answer your questions and provide you with the information you need, and I have a large group of volunteers who will help me! I can send you informational flyers and posters to promote the program in your school or area.

We will be scheduling at least 3 Basic Team Manager training events plus one advanced TM training between October and December. In addition, we will have at least one round of Instant Challenge nights in November (multiple locations) with a repeat in January. And finally we will have a Skills Fair for kids/training for adults in early January. These activities are in preparation for the regional tournament in March. At this time, we have both East and West tournament locations reserved and by January we will know whether we will have one or two tournaments, based on the number of teams.  All activities will be posted on this website or listed in newsletters as they are scheduled.

The biggest task right now is getting the word out about DI and what a great program it is for kids. Now is the time to start forming teams. So, if you are interested in DI but need more information or help getting started, I would really like to schedule an information night in your area. My only requirements are that the meeting be open to the public (so I can post the information on the DI website) and that it be publicized ahead of time through a school, club or church newsletter so that interested families can attend.  Kids are encouraged to attend, as we will start with a few instant challenges to give them an idea of what the program is like. This new region (I have been referring to it as my own little Hood to Coast) is quite large, so if we could group information nights in a public library or a common area like a district board room or similar, rather than a single school, it would be helpful but we are FLEXIBLE.

And if you want to be added to my e-newsletter list let me know that too. This year,
I will be sending an email that the e-newsletter has been posted to the Oregon website, as the files can get quite large and I don’t want spam blockers to keep Team Managers from getting timely information.

Please send me an email or give me a call to get started. I look forward to hearing from you.
